Mother’s biscuits

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Patsy offered to care for the eight-year-old daughter of her next-door neighbor. She arrived in time to prepare breakfast, laying a generous helping of bacon and eggs in front of the child.
" Mother always serves hot biscuits for breakfast," said the eight-year-old.

So, Patsy, very eager to oblige, hurried into the kitchen and quickly prepared a plate of hot biscuits, which she laid in front of the girl.

"No, thank you," she said.

"But I thought you said your mother always prepares hot biscuits for breakfast!" said Patsy in surprise.

"She does," said the child. "But I don’t eat them."

Sanctioning your child

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Punishments are problems for kids. Sometimes, we parents tend to overdo it. However, I found a new and exciting way to fix your child’s misfits. This program is a total hit. It’s called, "The better behavior wheel". Here’s how it works:

Suppose your child is guilty of leaving the lights on after leaving a room. (This was always a big one in our household. Kids have no concept of what it costs to run a household and they just take it for granted that electricity is always there and it’s free.) Since you’ve already made it a rule that the lights are to be turned off when leaving a room, it’s now time to spin the Wheel.

Notice that you’re not the bad guy here. The rule of turning off the lights was agreed to by your child. And now it’s the Wheel that has to be answered to. You can be impartial in the process. You can even root for the child, hoping for an easy consequence.

For only $29.90, you can get a hold of this really exciting system. Plus, if you think that it is not really working, then they will return your money! No questions asked! Try it out risk free for 90-days! Click here to get the wheel and start spinning!

Life Lessons: A poem for dad

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

You may have thought I didn’t see,
Or that I hadn’t heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.

Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we’d grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It’s written on my heart.

Without you, Dad, I wouldn’t be
The (woman)(man) I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.

I’ve grown up with your values,
And I’m very glad I did;
So here’s to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

1. Hormonal changes associated with menstruation
2. Retaining water which happens during the menstrual cycle.

Imaginary by McKenna (aged 12)

A distant voice whispers
In the soft arms of the wind
It’s only imaginary.

A thought so thinned
It barely reaches my mind
It’s only imaginary.

Through the wisps of my hair
The voice reaches its destination
It’s only imaginary.

A single thought;
A needle in the haystack,
Is what my mind sought.
It’s just what we lack.

Could it be?
This thought is true?
Has it come for me and you?

No.
It’s only imaginary.

Liar by Emma Hudson (aged 11)

My father is an astronaut
Who’s flown to outer space
My grandma is a race car driver
Who always wins her race
My mother is a gambler
She always wins her game
My grandpa followed Adam’s lead
And made the tiger’s name.
Yes, my family is amazing,
They all have seen their day
And each of them is special
In their own amazing way
I know what you thinking
What about me, myself, and I?
Well, dear, here I’ll tell the truth,
No one can lie like I!
