Controlling gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes often occurs in women when they are going through pregnancy. Ot requires a lot of attention to keep both the mother and the baby healthy and safe.
When a woman is pregnant, the body produces hormones that impair the work of insulin. The body produces extra insulin but in some women, this is not enough. Usually, gestational diabetesd goes away when the pregnancy ends.
Here are some tips to control gestational diabetes:
1. Work with a dietician to help you develop a meal plan.
2. Avoid sweets as much as possible and watch your carbohydrates intake.
3. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
4. Exercise for 30 minutes each day.
5. Check your blood sugar frequently.
6. Take diabetes medications exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor.
