Empathy and children
According to a new report, empathy comes naturally to children. Researchers have used functional MRI scans on normal kids aged 7 to 12. They found parts of their brains that were activated when they are shown pictures of people who are in pain.
It appears that empathy is hard wired into the brains of normal children as opposed to being solely the result of nurturing or parental guidance. The response of the brain to pain may be a big help for scientists in understanding the relationship between brain impairments and anti-social behavior like bullying.
This is also a great way to understand the morality of a person when he sees someone being bullied or pushed over. For kids, these scenarios are pretty dominant in schools.
