Baby on the way joke

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

For weeks, a 6-year old lad kept telling his first-grade teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house.

One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child.

The 6-year old was obviously impressed, but he made no comment.

Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending event.

The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said, "Tommy, whatever became of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?"

Tommy burst into tears and confessed, "I think Mommy ate it!"

Feeding your baby

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

New parents need to know how often to feed their baby and how it changes as he matures. Here is a guideline that will help you plan the way you feed your baby.

1. Those who breast feed need to be fed once every 1 - 3 hours each day.
2. Those who are on a diet formula need to be fed every 2 to 4 hours because formula take longer to digest.
3. Never give your baby cow’s milk especially if he is younger than 1. It is difficult for an infant to digest.
4. Do not give any solid food until at least 4 or 6 months of age.
5. Introduce new foods one at a time and check for allergic reactions.

Children’s toys

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

US lawmakers have agreed to ban the use of a group of chemicals in children’s toys and other products because it may pose serious threats in their health.

For me, this is a particularly good move done by the lawmakers. Children tend to put toys inside their mouths. If this happens, germs can enter their system immediately. Aside from that, some chemicals may also rub off. Health risks will soon follow.

It is good that they banned chemicals. They should have more campaigns similar to this so that children can play safely.

Monday, July 28th, 2008

A teenager’s life may look easy for us adults but on the contrary, it isn’t even close to being easy. There are a lot of stress factors that are involved in a teen’s life. Some of the things that they worry about most of the time are: family problems, body image, fitting in with people, grades and a lot more.

Here are a few tips on how you can help your teen during times like these.
1. Have them eat well and cut back on fast food and caffeine.
2. Have them engage in team sports to relieve tension.
3. Always have them talk to someone about their problems.

As parents, we must be able to communicate and provide support to our teens. This will help them grow into responsible adults.

What are the signs that you are now a MOM?

Friday, July 25th, 2008

You automatically double-knot everything you tie.

You find yourself humming the Barney song as you do the dishes.

You hear a baby cry in the grocery store, and you start to gently sway back and forth, back and forth. However, your children are at school!

You actually start to like the smell of strained carrots mixed with applesauce.

You weep through the scene in Dumbo when his mom is taken away, not to mention what Bambi does to you.

You get soooo into crafts you contemplate writing a book called 101 Fun Crafts to do with Dryer Lint and Eggshells.

You spend a half hour searching for your sunglasses only to have your teenager say, "Mom, why don’t you wear the ones you pushed up on your head?"

You are out for a nice romantic meal with your husband, enjoying some real adult conversation, when suddenly you realize that you’ve reached over and started to cut up his steak!

Divorced parents can still do the job

Friday, July 25th, 2008

A study claims that those who are divorced can still be as good as those who are still together when it comes to parenting.

Divorced couples tend to overcompensate for the split up and focus all of their attention to their children. This is according to a sociologist at a University in Canada. When it comes to child caring, divorce or not, parents can still do the job. There is a huge percentage that shows no matter how bad of a husband or a wife a person is, they can still become good parents. This fact separates being a parent and being married.

This fact actually reminds me of Mrs. Doubtfire, the family film by Robin Williams. In the end, the divorce pulled through, but he said that there are cases wherein parents can become better moms and dads when they are away from each other. Being separated does not mean that they love their children less.
