Touch of Knowledge

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Babies do not just stick their hands to anything that they find amusing to touch. That is the way they learn things - through touching. This is how they differentiate things and their sense of feeling is being sharpened when they touch. Also, this is the time when they grow a fondly love for textures. When this happens, you must encourage your baby to touch things.

Take them to a touch adventure around the yard. Introduce more things for them to touch but always be there to check because most of the time, they like putting small things that they can grasp straight into their mouths.

Teaching your baby about different things keep them prepared as they grow older. Touching is one thing that a baby should not be kept off.

The smell of sweet treats can be sensed in the air as early as now. Children will soon look for easter eggs and dress like bunnies around the church garden.

Easter is indeed a very lively day for kids worldwide. A good bonding can also be established during this time. Try creating decorations for fun activities. Spending time with your child should be a top priority on Easter Sunday.

The egg has been the number one emblem of easter sunday. There are various things that you can do with the egg. Here is one cool way to play around a good design. Sleeping tips for moms

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Working all day is very exhausting for a mom. At night, a good shut eye is neeed but they can barely sleep. Here are a few tips on how to catch a good sleep.

1. Listed to slow music an hour before lights off. Upbeat music can bring in a lot of energy while slow music can make the mood relaxing.

2. Turn digital clocks away from you. The LEDs can be very bright enough to pass through the eyelids so it would be better to keep them away from your sight.

3. Stop surfing the web. Like television, the monitor is made up of flickering dots that stimulate the brain and thus, sleep is far fetched. Log off about an hour before going to bed.

Chopsticks!

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

It will always be fun to have a different setting once in a while especially when it comes to food choice. Occasionally, you should have everyone try out other delicacies such as Chinese or Japanese cuisine. To make it more enjoyable, try using chopsticks.

Kids get the hang of strong finger movements at the age of 5. You can easliy teach them hot to use chopsticks at this time. Show a good example and make sure that they get a good grasp of both sticks. When they get the hang of the movement, try picking up food. You can start with easy ones like chicken or brocholi and then go for smaller food. This way, you can all enjoy a nice authentic asian dish.

Handling divorce

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

No matter how hard you avoid it, when marriage comes to an end, you have to face the fact that you have hit a brick wall and its about time you have to let go. But then your kid will have a really hard time coping up with this dilemma. I had a friend of mine who got divorced with her husband. Their 5 year old daughter is dissing her biological dad and does not want him involved in her life although her dad was a perfectly good man.

I advised my friend to help her ex - husband in dealing with their daughter. Every child has the right to get acquainted with their biological father especially after a divorce. Adding up to that, the situation becomes a lot harder if you re-marry and introduce a new father to the child. It causes a lot of confusion and all the more that you have to help you child get to know his real father.

The Good Leader

The Good Leader

In every circle of friends, there will always be someone who stands out for the rest. This is what most people would call as the leader. Based from experience, I have served as the leader for large groups of children when I was young. The key idea that time was the trust that I built around my circle of friends which eventually paved the way to make me the leader of a bigger organization. Leadership does not give a person the authority to do instruct others and just sit back, relax and watch them move. Being a leader means taking the stand for the group. Be a leader by example and work hard for the team. Always be there to assist everyone. Also, a good leader knows how to follow instructions and laws.

Teach your child to become a good leader and who knows? One day he may end up being the CEO of a big company.

Some Facts about moms to be

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Being pregnant is indeed a blessing especially for women. The thought of being able to bring another life into this world is amazingly relaxing. However, during the stages of pregnancy, there are some facts that may be unrelaxing.

A mom - to - be will notice that she has a sticky white or pale yellow discharge on her underwear. If it develops into a fould odor or becomes really thick and watery then it is about time that they contact their doctor since it may be an infection of some sort. This is caused by the increase of hormones and vaginal blood flow. This will be constant during pregnancy.

Another thing is that they will experience a constant "leak". When they laugh hard or sneeze, they will feel a sudden gush of their bladder. This is normal since they are instructed to drink around 64 ounces of liquid a day. A soon to be mom must give alot of time to go to the restroom and urinate. And also, ty to use mini pads and bring extra underwears just in case.

Online Guidance

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Technology is something that you can never take away from your child but then you can guide them in its proper use. The Internet for example contains a vast space for knowledge and information. However, it contains a decent amount of violence too.

Safe guarding your child against these is a must. Give him a generous amount of time in surfing the Internet. 2-3 hours a day is good enough. Stay in the room while he is surfing the Internet. As much as possible, you may show him aroun things as well. Show him to play around different websites that are applicable to kids his age. Also, if you are not around, try to install a software that will block pornography and violence.

Technology has both positive and negative effects and it is much better if your child learns the positive side of it.

The Small Chef

Friday, March 7th, 2008

There will come a time that your kid will become interested in making the food that he usually eats. Before allowing him to cook, you have to make sure that his motor skills are already developed. You must make sure that he has good analytical and math skills which is pretty useful in measuring ingredients.

Here are a couple of things that you could assign him to do if he wants to help you out in the kitchen.

1. Grease and flour the pan
2. Use small appliances like hand mixer, food processor, blender, etc.
3. Use a small light, paring knife but make sure that you supervise him.
4. Clean up.

After a few weeks or months, he will soon learn more delicacies and even try to make one of his own.

Re-Heat

Friday, March 7th, 2008

For parents on the go, cooking is definitely one of the setbacks that they can encounter. The usual thing that they do is to buy food in the grocery that will just be heated in the oven for a couple of minutes. This is not bad at all especially when you are in a hurry but will your child and your entire family get enough nutrition? Answer is no.

Basically, there are foods that still have the nutrition needed even if they are to be re-heated for 2 or 3 times. This way, even your child can re - heat his lunch even if you are out of the house.

There are a couple of good recipes that I find very interesting in: http://www.parenting.com/article/Mom/Health–Fitness/Heat-and-Eat-Recipes-21355100 take advantage of this and keep that nutrition flowing out of every meal that you prepare.
