The “Mine” Attitude
Although only a few babies encounter this, it is a good to know information for parents that babies tend to consider things as their own even if it is not. It may get a little out of hand and irritate several people. It will definitely look like theft in the eyes of others but to your child its just a mere act of getting what he considers is his own.
To get around this problem, you must be able to show your child the things that is totally his own and the things that are not his property. There must be a border around things and you must set the rules. Explain it in simple words and punish him if needed. Try to say, "NO. That is not yours" in a firm tone and impose the rules strictly. For sure, he will be crying but it is better to impose it as early as today rather than have problems with him in the near future. Your child may not notice it yet but he may turn out to be a kleptomaniac if this attitude is not fixed early.
